Deacon Nominations (2026)
2026 DEACON NOMINATIONS
The Church’s Responsibility in Calling Deacons
The church membership is entitled to vote in all elections and on all questions submitted to the church membership, provided the member is present, and retains the exclusive right of self-government in all phases of the spiritual and temporal life of the church, including the selection of deacons.
The office of deacon is a “Calling to Special Service,” by God and then by the local church. Members of the Ninth and O Baptist Church can nominate any male member of the church who is believed to meet the qualifications of a deacon, including previously ordained men who are not currently serving in that capacity.
The pastor or his designee and a deacon officer will work to determine whether deacon nominees meet the scriptural and non-scriptural standards set forth in the qualifications. The membership will be asked to approve or disapprove those men who have been nominated, determined to be qualified, and needed to serve as deacons. Those men who are approved by majority of members voting shall be ordained as deacons, if they have not been previously ordained.
